TASMANIA yesterday became the first state in Australia to license an online betting agency with the passing of its controversial Betfair legislation. The new laws pave the way for the UK-based Betfair agency, in a joint venture with Australian gaming and media giant, PBL, to immediately establish its $10 million headquarters in Hobart, employing more than 150 staff.
