....regardless of Lie or No Lie to get us into the War...nothing Bush can say excuses the fact that once AT WAR, he has not only proven incapable of winning it, but had absolutely no plan in place to do so, and has destroyed Iraq in the process. Whether right or wrong to go to war, he has lost it. And was 100% unprepared both to wage it and to deal with the consequences of the invasion. It would, in my opinion, be better for the Dems to focus on that failure, as most of them did give him the vote to invade if he wanted. But nobody voted to lose the war and nobody voted to ruin Iraq and nobody voted to destroy the country's oil infrastructure and nobody voted to stick our country in the quagmire. Those are 100% George W. Bush's doings.
"The former chairman of the Arts Council of Great Britain, Lord Palumbo, who lunched with Mrs. T (Thatcher) six months ago, told me recently what she said when he asked her if, given the intelligence at the time, she would have made the decision to invade Iraq. "I was a scientist before I was a politician, Peter," she told him carefully. "And as a scientist I know you need facts, evidence and proof—and then you check, recheck and check again. The fact was that there were no facts, there was no evidence, and there was no proof. As a politician the most serious decision you can take is to commit your armed services to war from which they may not return."
A contemptable speech by the most contemptable president ever. Let's see the poll numbers next week. This guy needs a new act or a new audience. I think this very very old act with the old audience will no longer fly. He and his fellow thugs have no new act, so let's get them a new audience as soon as possible. In the House and Senate. Or whatever US Court they can be dragged into (I guess it will have to wait after 2008 for Bush). Or the Hague along with their old pal from the 80s, Saddam,... or someplace.
Who the hell do they think they can kid? Unbelievable. The "everyone thunk it was true" line is a patent, transparent lie. The "all the Democrats voted to go to war" is also a patent transparent lie." Sure, many Democrats will look like shameful goofs when this is over, but it will be very clear that that they did not have all the facts, and their own words in the public record indicate that they did not vote to "go straight to war, do not pass Go." The public may end up have contempt and pity for the Democratic (and some GOP) marks, but I think their opinion of the swindlers will be far worse.
Dig deeper, dig deeper, Great Leader!

He Stole Millions – And Lied Us Into War
Yet there he was Wednesday, hamming it up at the neoconservative American Enterprise Institute, flanked by adoring pals such as Christopher Hitchens. And that's the least of his outrages: Chalabi, a convicted embezzler and Iranian double agent who played a critical role in lying us into war, was also scheduled to meet with Vice President Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and Treasury Secretary John Snow. (Maybe he'll share a few financial tips with the latter on how to raise half a trillion in a jiffy.)
We've kept an eye on Chalabi from the very beginning – see here, here, here, here, and here for starters. This self-described "hero in error" has already grifted at least $40 million from Uncle Sucker – and you can bet your share of the national debt he's not staying at the posh Ritz-Carlton in Georgetown on money he earned.
We know you work hard for your living – and we work hard for ours. Keeping track of crooks like Chalabi is a 24/7 job, but if we don't do it, who will? Judith Miller and the rest of the mainstream media? Don't count on it.
That's why we're asking for your tax-deductible donation. It's crunch time for our fall fundraiser: we need to reach the $60,000 mark, and soon, or cue the crickets. Then you'll really hear Ahmed Chalabi laughing all the way to the bank – with your hard-earned money.
There are more Chalabis waiting in the wings to lure us into future wars. Syria beckons, as does Iran – Lebanon, too. The Chalabis of this world are just waiting to cash in, and they don’t mind spilling American blood to do it.
Don't let that happen. Invest in peace and a sane foreign policy now.
