Betfair is now legal - that is betting against other people. In related news anonymous bids are now being accepted at the Stock Exchange.
An exciting new field of combinatorial ' auction's' is opening up where Aussies who might bet on two flies racing up a wall can bet on all sorts of things today.

These ' bets' can now be placed anonomously and safely over the internet. For working and paying examples of this see ' The Rotten Dead Pool ' and http://www.stiffs.com
So if you or I decided we wanted to bet on whether John Winston Howard was about to have a fatal pencil or biro accident there is nothing on gods green earth to stop us.
The closest correct stab at the exact time and date of Howards PERMANENT RETIREMENT from politics scoops the pool. Theoretically Howard himself might take the prize although that is unlikely due to probable follow up combinatorial activity over the freenets.
My guess?
